Tel Aviv, Israel, 15 July 2010 – APM Automation Solutions, a world pioneer in volume measurement of bulk solids, today announced the launch of its new APM Multi-Scanner System, specifically configured to provide accurate continuous volume measurements of solids stored in very wide silos and other very large open bins, bulk storage rooms, stockpiles and warehouses. Inventory measurement in extra large, extra wide applications – for the very first time – is becoming a major factor in the decision making process.
In today’s poor economic environment, controlling inventories and ordering just-in-time has a significant influence on operating results. Using less precise level measures instead of much more accurate and effective volume measurement devices greatly increases error margins and the potential for major losses.
"The new Multi-Scanner System is the only solution that meets the challenges of real time accurate continuous volume measurement in extra wide, extra large storage applications. Seventy percent of manufacturing plant expenses involves raw materials and inventories,” said APM Co-Founder and CEO Ofir Perl. "In such cases, precise information is especially critical as errors in judgment may be more costly. The System allows managers at all levels and in all departments to know the real-time inventory status in a given silo or group of silos at a given site, or across multiple sites. Knowing the inventory empowers managers to make informed decisions that directly influence the bottom line.” Perl emphasized.
The new Multi-Scanner System, comprised of two or more 3DLevelScanners Model MVL, is a natural development of APM's highly successful 3DLevelScanner. It accurately measures essentially any kind of solid material stored in practically any type of large silo, bin, warehouse, etc., and can include practically an unlimited number of units. The System requires minimal maintenance, offers improved operational reliability and efficiency, improves safety, avoids manufacturing stoppages due to flawed delivery schedules, and reduces material losses caused by overfilling or unexpected emptying.
In addition to a minimum of two 3DLevelScanners Model MVL, the Multi-Scanner System includes:
• APM Multi-Scanner Controller which synchronizes transmission from all installed MVL scanners
• 3D Vision Software Tool that displays data related to volume, levels and mass of stored materials and generate a 3D representation of the stored content, providing early warnings of build-up loads and bridges that form randomly over time.
• 3DLinkPro (optional) for remote access to the MVL System from anywhere in the world.
