Gravel and Grit Mining

Storage of coarse bulk materials

Gravel and grit are required as substratum for road construction and as an admixture in concrete. These materials are stored in large, usually concrete-lined, silos and bunkers. The implemented level measurement technology must meet very tough demands.

3DLevelScanner for volume and level measurement in gravel and grit silos

Due to the high tractive forces and abrasion, level measurement techniques that contact the medium are unsuitable for this job. The non-contacting APM 3DLevelScanner™ mapping sensor, specially developed for such applications, provides an elegant low-cost solution. Not impacted by dust, abrasion, product moisture or filling noise, the instrument carries out measurement reliably in silos or bunkers up to 70 m (230 ft) high. Struts or other obstacles do not interfere or skew the results.

3DLevelScanner for volume and  level measurement inside bunkers and bins

In the aggregates and mining industry, products such as gravel, grit, lime, and gypsum are stored inside large bunkers and bins. The APM 3DLevelScanner™ with mapping capabilities, can give the end user a map of the surface area inside these bunkers and bins. From here calculating the volume and mass of the materials inside the containers is an easy task. The system's easy-to-read 3-dimensional map, and the broad range of data it provides make it the most convenient and easy-to-use instrument on the market.
